These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of liainterpreting.com and your engagement of translation, certified translation, interpreting, and localization services (the “Services”) from LIA Interpreting (“LIA Interpreting,” “we,” “us,” “our”). By requesting a quote, placing an order, or using our Services, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing our website or engaging our Services, you confirm that you have the authority to agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself or the organization you represent.

2. Description of services

LIA Interpreting provides document translation, certified translation, on-site interpretation, video remote interpreting (VRI), phone interpreting, and localization services in 200+ languages for healthcare, legal, government, education, and corporate clients. The specific scope of each project is defined in the quote or order confirmation provided to the client.

3. Quotes, orders, and payment

Quotes are based on the information and files provided at the time of the request, including document length, complexity, language pair, format, and deadline. Final pricing may be adjusted if the scope changes after a quote is issued. Payment terms, accepted methods, and any deposit requirements will be confirmed at the time of order. Invoices are due upon receipt unless other terms are agreed in writing. Late payments may result in a delay of project delivery or future services.

4. Client responsibilities

Clients are responsible for providing accurate, legible, and complete source materials, along with the intended use, target audience, deadline, and any formatting or certification requirements. LIA Interpreting is not responsible for delays or errors resulting from incomplete, unclear, or late information provided by the client.

5. Delivery and turnaround

Estimated delivery times are provided in good faith based on the scope of the project and are not guaranteed unless confirmed in writing. Rush service may be available for an additional fee, subject to linguist availability.

6. Cancellations and rescheduling (interpreting services)

On-site, video, and phone interpreting appointments require advance notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice, or interpreter no-shows caused by the client or the client’s counterpart not appearing for a scheduled appointment, may be subject to a cancellation fee, as interpreters are reserved exclusively for your appointment. Specific notice periods and fees will be confirmed at the time of booking.

7. Certified translations

Certified translations include a signed statement confirming that the translation is complete and accurate to the best of the translator’s knowledge. Requirements for certified translations (such as notarization, specific formatting, or additional seals) vary by receiving institution. It is the client’s responsibility to confirm the exact requirements of the receiving institution (for example, USCIS, a court, or a school) before placing an order. LIA Interpreting is not responsible for a certified translation being rejected due to requirements that were not disclosed to us at the time of order.

8. Confidentiality

We treat all client documents and project information as confidential and take reasonable steps to protect them, as described in our Privacy Policy. Linguists and interpreters engaged on your project are bound by confidentiality obligations.

9. Accuracy and limitation of liability

LIA Interpreting uses qualified linguists and reasonable quality-control procedures to provide accurate translation and interpreting services. However, translation and interpretation involve professional judgment, and we do not guarantee that any translation is error-free or fit for every possible legal, medical, or technical purpose. For documents with significant legal, medical, or financial consequences, we recommend an independent review by a qualified professional in the relevant field before final use.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LIA Interpreting’s total liability for any claim arising from the Services is limited to the amount paid by the client for the specific project giving rise to the claim. LIA Interpreting is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost business, lost opportunities, or reputational harm.

10. Interpreter role and independence

Interpreters provided by LIA Interpreting act as neutral language conduits. They do not provide legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice, and their role is limited to accurately conveying spoken communication between parties.

11. Intellectual property

Clients retain ownership of the content and documents they submit for translation. LIA Interpreting retains ownership of any internal glossaries, style guides, or translation memory developed in the course of providing the Services, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

12. Website use

Content on liainterpreting.com is provided for general informational purposes and does not constitute legal, medical, or professional advice. You agree not to misuse the website, including attempting to gain unauthorized access to our systems or interfere with normal operation of the site.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Services will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Washington State, unless otherwise required by applicable law.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of our website or Services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
